GIOVANNA CARAVAGGIO

Mezzo-soprano, graduated from the Parma Conservatory, has performed in various Italian and foreign cities, with great success among the public and critics, in the repertoires: lieder, opera and chamber vocal repertoire.

She was a permanent artist of the Teatro alla Scala Chorus from 1987 to 2023.

​

She participated in several productions, under the direction of great conductors such as Wolfgang Sawallisch.

​

In 1994 she participated in the La Scala production of the opera "Il ratto dal serraglio" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In 1998 she took part in the production of the opera “Linda di Chamounix” by Gaetano Donizetti, directed by Maestro Adam Fischer, staged at the Teatro alla Scala. Also at the Teatro alla Scala she participated in the production of the opera “Dialogues des carmélites” by Francis Poulenc under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti. Numerous other productions see her performed in the most important Italian and foreign theatres.

In recent years she has dedicated herself to teaching vocal technique and performing art with particular attention to young people. 
In February 2015, in collaboration with maestro Massimiliano Bullo, she held three conference meetings at the State University of Milan, entitled "Being artists of the Teatro alla Scala". 

​

She held masterclasses in Singing and Scenic Art at the Beijing Conservatory, China.
