GIOVANNA CARAVAGGIO

A mezzo-soprano who graduated from the Parma Conservatory, she has performed in various Italian and international cities, achieving great public and critical acclaim in her lieder, opera, and chamber music repertoire.

 

She was a permanent member of the Teatro alla Scala Chorus from 1987 to 2023.

 

She has participated in several productions under the direction of great conductors such as Wolfgang Sawallisch.

 

In 1994, she participated in the La Scala production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera "The Abduction from the Seraglio." In 1998, she took part in the production of Gaetano Donizetti's opera "Linda di Chamounix," conducted by Maestro Adam Fischer, at the Teatro alla Scala. She also participated in the Teatro alla Scala production of Francis Poulenc's opera "Dialogues des carmélites," conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti. She has performed in numerous other productions at the most important Italian and international theaters.

 

In recent years, she has dedicated herself to teaching vocal technique and stagecraft, with a particular focus on young people.

In February 2015, she held three conferences at the University of Milan, in collaboration with Maestro Massimiliano Bullo, entitled "Being Artists of the Teatro alla Scala."

​

She has held masterclasses in singing and stagecraft at the Beijing Conservatory, China.
